Cabrillo Beach Campout Aug 19 – 21, 2011

Parents, we are pleased to announce that we have made camping reservations
at Cabrillo Beach Youth Waterfront Sports Center (CBYWSC) from Friday (late
afternoon/early evening) Aug. 19 to Sunday (noon), Aug. 21. For those of you
not familiar with CBYWSC, it is operated by the Los Angeles Council of the
Boy Scouts of America. It is located in San Pedro Harbor (map is attached).
The facility provides a wide variety of activities including swimming,
kayaking, canoeing, row boating and handicrafts. All Scouts can earn the
Swimming Belt Loop and Webelos can earn the Aquanaut and Showman Activity
Badges. There is a Scout Store on site and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is
just a short walk away. Attached is a sample weekend schedule. You can also
learn more about CBYWSC by going on their website
(www.cabrilloyouthcamp.org).  A few years ago our Pack spent a weekend at
CBYWSC and I can tell you from personal experience that the Scouts had a
great time.
The cost is $55 per person ($30 for children under 5). This includes 4 meals
(Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner and Sunday breakfast). Since we will
be camping you will need to bring your own tent, sleeping bag, etc.
I have made reservations for 50 people. Siblings are welcome. If we get a
good response then there is a possibility (but no guarantee) that we can
increase our reservation. Please look at your summer calendar and let me
know if you are interested in attending. If you get Dani DeGrood or me a
check (made payable to “Pack 227”) then you are guaranteed a spot. Don’t let
the spots fill up before you decide !
If you have any questions or need additional information, please e-mail me
(tscully@wfbm.com) or call me (714) 392-6698 (cell).
