Scout-O-Rama May 10th 2014

Scout-O-Rama is this Saturday May 10th at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado Canyon

Den Leaders and parents, this is a reminder that the Orange County Council will hold its annual Scout-O-Rama on Saturday May 10, 2014  between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at Oak Canyon Park (5305 Santiago Canyon Drive,Silverado, CA 92676). This is located by Irvine Lake which is just a 30 minute drive from Huntington Beach. Attached are directions to Oak Canyon Park.Scout-O-Rama is a trade show of Scouting that is attended by over 25,000 people. Scouts and their families will enjoy a fun-filled day of exhibits, live demonstrations, cooking activities with samples and competitions (such as canoe racing, monkey bridges and climbing walls). I encourage you to bring your Scouts and other family members to this event for a few hours. You will have a great time ! If you bought a camp card, this is your admission to the event, otherwise it is $10 for admission per family.  Parking will be $5 so bring cash.  For more information on Scout-0-Rama please go to the Orange County Council website (www.ocbsa.org/scout-o-rama).

Pack 227 will again be participating in this year’s event with a booth. Cub Scouts will be able to earn their Map and Compass Belt Loop. This is the same booth we had last year. We already have some leaders that will organize and set up the booth (Thank you Ramon Perez, Ed Clark and D.J. Clarke). Wes Tonel has also volunteered to be present at the booth on and off throughout the day (Thank you Wes). However, we still need 2 parents and 2 Scouts to work 1 ½ hour shifts. Wes will explain to you exactly what you need to do but it will be EASY ! Trust me – you do not need prior experience with a map and compass to help ! Attached is a sign up sheet. Please look at your calendar for that day and let me know if you and your son can work a shift. Depending on your schedule, you can visit the other exhibit booths and attractions first and then work a shift or vice versa. Again, please respond to me only with the shift that you can work. As soon as we find out the exact location of our booth we will notify everyone. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.
