We are pleased to announce that Pack 227 has made reservations to attend “Camp Angeles” at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County between Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22. According to their website, Camp Angeles is “Our newest overnight addition will take you through the past and present of the city we all know and love. Come participate in a scavenger hunt through our new ‘Becoming LA’ exhibit, meet a local creature, and see some nighttime wildlife in our gardens”.
Check-in for the program begins on Friday, Nov. 21st at 6:30 pm with the program itself starting at 7:00 pm. Activities run a little after 10:00 pm. Participants bring their own sleeping bags, pillows (and if you are so inclined air mattresses) and sleep inside the museum. Checkout is no later than Saturday, Nov. 22 at 9:00 am (but participants are welcome to stay at the museum all day following the sleepover).
The overnight adventure includes:
- 3-4 rotations of fun and educational activities at night led by museum educators
- Light snack in the evening and light breakfast in the morning
- Museum patches for all Scouts
- An exciting and fun opportunity to spend the night in a museum surrounded by fossils!
Click here for packet that contains additional information, including directions, a list of nearby restaurants in case you want to eat dinner before you arrive at the museum on Friday, and a participant consent form that needs to be signed and delivered to Tom Scully by Oct. 17th.
The cost is $55 per person. Parking is extra and costs $10. You may RSVP by emailing to Tom Scully only. Provide the name of your Scout and the parent that will be attending. Checks should be made payable to “Pack 227” and dropped off at the St. Bonaventure School Office in a sealed envelope with “Pack 227 – Natural History Museum” written on the outside, mailed or dropped off to Tom Scully (4841 Curtis Circle, Huntington Beach 92649) or given to Tom at the September Pack meeting. At this point the overnighter is limited to Scouts and their parents. Depending on the level of interest we may open it up to siblings.
