This year’s Trout fishing event will be on Sunday December 6th at Santa Ana River Lakes. (http://www.fishinglakes.com)
The lake is open from 6 am to 4 pm. You can line up at the gates beginning the night before and wait till the 6:00 am opening to get the best spots. After 6:30 am or so the line dies down and you should be able to drive right in.
Santa Ana River Lakes (SARL) consists of three lakes – two small (Catfish Lake and Chris’s Pond) and one large lake. We will have a section of the shoreline reserved for our Pack but all lakes are open to all of us. SARL are silting ponds for water that eventually ends up in our taps. It is clean water allowing the lake to stock lots of big fish. Continue reading

Our annual Pack Halloween Party to be held on Saturday, Oct. 3rd between 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the St. Bonaventure Parish Hall. I know what some of you are thinking – “Isn’t that a little early for a Halloween Party ?” Maybe, but it’s the only time we could get the Parish Hall! It is, of course, a costume party and siblings (and grandparents) are invited. Last year was a blast and this year should be even better. There will be lots of games, treats, “spooky” music and a photo booth where the kids can have their pictures taken in costume. The Pack will also provide pizza. The event is free but we are asking each family to bring one of the following:
- Tigers (Dens 2, 6 & 13) – Snacks (Chips, pretzels, nuts, popcorn, etc)
- Wolves (Dens 10, 11 & 12) – Appetizers (ie. Taquitos, egg rolls, veggie tray, etc)
- Bears (Dens 1 & 9) – Salads
- Webelos 1 (Dens 7 & 8) – Bottled water and juice (no more than a 12 pack per family)
- Webelos 2 (Dens 3 & 16) Dessert
Also, if anyone is interested and available to help with decorations please contact our fearless packmaster, Tom Scully.
Parents, click here to download a flyer for “Scout Night at Angel Stadium” (Angels vs. Seattle Mariners on Friday Sept. 25th at 7:05 pm). Scout units in attendance will be saluted on the Angels Video Board during the game (through the 4th Inning). Tom Scully will be in charge of ordering the tickets. In order to allow all Pack 227 families to sit in the same area and to promote maximum attendance we will be ordering View Level tickets at $15 each (regular price is $19). If anyone would prefer the more expensive seats (ie. Terrace or Field Levels) just let me know and we will order them. Deadline for you to RSVP and get the money to Tom is Wednesday, Sept. 2nd. Checks should be made payable to “Pack 227” and can be mailed or dropped off to Tom at 4841 Curtis Circle, HB 92649.
Important!… Scouts attending should be in their full Class A uniform.
As most of you know each year Pack 227 holds a “Fall Overnighter.” This year we are pleased to announce that we have made reservations for an overnighter aboard the USS Iowa which is docked in the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday, November 7, 2015. We have chosen that day so as to hopefully promote maximum participation and not to conflict with other youth sporting events. Continue reading
